The Maple Syrup diet recipe was used by Beyonce Knowles to lose 20 pounds in 10 days before filming Dream Girls and is more a form of fasting than dieting.  It has been popularized as of late by starlets around the globe and is also known as the Beyonce Diet.  I was first recommended to the diet by a colleague when I told him I needed to lose some weight, explained Beyonce.

This diet is not new, and has been around for a long time before Beyonce made it popular.  The Master Cleanser, also known as the Lemonade Diet, the Lemon Cleanse, the Maple Syrup Diet, and the Cayenne Pepper Diet after some of the ingredients used, is a dieting program created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941 and made popular by Peter Glickman who promotes Burroughs’ regimen to a modern audience.  The nickname the Maple Syrup Diet started to be used after Robin Quivers and Beyonce’s weight loss experiences were made public in 2006.

Michigan Grade B Maple Syrup is used in body cleansing detoxification recipes, such as the Stanley Burroughs “Master Cleanser” Lemonade Diet or Maple Syrup Diet, because it is pure maple syrup, free of any material other than pure, clean, clear liquid maple syrup in sanitary condition.

Although the maple syrup diet has its good effects, this also comes with its own share of flaws, along with just about any other forms of diet fads in the market.  It seems to work quickly though it has been criticized by nutritionists because it is recommended to work only if used for 10 days or more.  At any given time, 90% of the people who start the diet program fail the prescribed ten-day period of the fast.  There have been reports of people who wanted to lose a lot of weight so they stayed on it for up to 40 days, and this is not recommended.  It should be considered a very effective way to rid the body of bad toxins, and to jumpstart a diet.
